The dog has the ability to find lost items or criminal evidence on various terrain that may be overlooked or take hours to find by investigating officers. The canine does this by distinguishing between what should be there ( leaves, grass, trees, etc...) and what should not be there. The dog can pick up the item or show indication by laying down with the item between it's paws.
