Faith was the first Bohmter Heide dog in the USA !
Faith was born in Germany, bred by aus der Bohmter Heide Kennel, this was a repeat breeding from Bullweih vom Schandpfahl X Hope aus der Grafschaft
I actually inquired on the first litter but for whatever reason didn't purchase a puppy then. When the repeat breeding was announced I was again looking for a puppy. I had been looking for a puppy since sometime after Mauser passed in 2010. I knew this was the litter for me, if the litter owner would allow us to have a puppy. After talking back and forth and figuring everything out, it was a process for sure, a date was set for the flight to America, both parties were concerned with the long flight for Faith but it all worked out fine.

Faith in Germany...
Faith was imported from Germany @ 8 weeks of age, from aus der Bohmter Heide Kennel, April 18th 2016.
Jason and I picked her up from the airport in DC. She was uncertain what was going on, and had a very long flight, but 3 seconds after she was out of her crate for the first time, since boarding the airplane in Germany, she knew we were her people. Seriously there was a look that came over her and "it was on!" LOL
She was a hoot on the drive home and took over the house the moment she stepped inside.
On the ride home she chewed on a straw and tried to chew on daddy's hand. He told her "there are rules!" LOL
She is a good house dog, considering her drives. Being a trainer and making sure she is worked, exercised and stimulated helps I'm sure, but she never offered to chew on anything but her toys. We socialized her a lot and she went everywhere with us, still does. We had a litter of German Shepherds on the ground just after she arrived so she was also socialized with them. I also socialized her to the things I do with my litters, bottle pool, adventure box, and the 300 different sounds were played for her for many days.
We worked a lot on socialization, to people, places & things. She started going to our Schutzhund club in Fairmont when she was a little older but until then we did imprinting and work at home, a little tracking, a lot of obedience & bitework (rag/tugs) being careful not to do any damage to her growing little body and careful during the teething stage. I had her running a blind at 4-5 months of age. Very smart and driven. I didn't have her jumping anything higher than her elbows I'd say, until her hips and elbows were OFA'd. But since she lived in the house, what "she" did to her body...jumping and sliding around (I did put down rugs for a long time) I am surprised she had any sockets in her joints. LOL
First super high drive working dog I've had in the house, she has drive enough for several dogs, and high endurance (ask anyone). I thought I'd kill her at times. Good thing I'm a trainer. She didn't chew or steal things, I could, and did, leave treats on the counter while I went to train clients dogs, and she NEVER touched them, even though she could reach them.
Training at our Schutzhund club... 3 hour drive one way if we stopped to eat (Chick-fil-A usually) that is a lot of trips, gas, time, money it adds up. Thankfully we are trainers, so we can work her at home as well. Jason does the agitation while I handle, and I do the Obedience and Tracking with her. We usually go twice a month, sometimes 3 times (during the warmer months, I hate the cold). I've done many BH and AD titles without a club but it is very nice to have a club to help, especially with the traffic portion. Thanks to our club members for also helping with the socialization for the ZtP we achieved! And thanks to Joe for doing our bitework at the club.

Faith has been Raw Fed. And I make most of her treats. Here are a few pics of the treats, meals & prep.
I try to keep small bags of Ziwi Peak and sometimes Farmina N&D (this is what we started her on when she arrived shortly before switching to raw) on hand for tracking, treats, or oops I forgot to defrost something. Occasionally she may get something like Orijen or Stella & Chewy's treats, also Bully Sticks.
I only clean with natural cleaners, usually DIY. I use vinegar, water, alcohol with essential oils to mop the floors, and also steam clean.
We, did a lot of health testing on Faith.
Dentition (she has all her teeth) was done by a local vet.
Hips and Elbows were done by a vet who specializes in precise positioning, in Ohio.
JLPP was done by me, (mouth swab you send off) but she was clear by parentage anyway I just wanted to do the testing because I couldn't get her clear by parentage by OFA (her Sire/Dam were in Germany).
Cardiac Auscultation & Echo (Heart) testing was done in Ohio at an OFA clinic preformed by specialist.
Eyes were done in Ohio at an OFA clinic preformed by specialist.
*DM (because the DNA place I was using was having a sale on a second test and couldn't think of anything else to choose),
*Coat Length (Long Coat Gene, no, I didn't suspect for a second she had this gene)
& AKC *DNA (we can prove any puppies from her are hers by DNA) were done by me (all *3 mouth swabs).
Faith had all the test (and more) that were required by OFA for her breed to get her CHIC number!
Yes Faith was expensive, with the exchange rate and fees, shipping from Germany.... and I feed her raw which takes a lot of time and planning as I don't get it pre made. She takes a lot of my time with training, feeding, exercising, grooming, socialization, etc... But this is what it takes and we are committed to her.
Getting her health clearances, getting her ready for her titles, then getting the titles and showing in conformation, as well as getting her ZtP, that is a lot of work, gas, travel, hotel, eating out, and fees.
And people wonder why well bred dogs cost so much! ??
