Mauser was born in California, out of imports, both from Germany, but his sire took a detour in another country (Poland) before coming to America. 

We picked Mauser up at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport 2/5/2000, I was so super excited to get him.  We named him after the German rifle (Mauser 98k).

Mauser is a Rick grandson (Rick von Burgthann).  His pedigree has older lines that you don't see very often, I'm glad to have him to breed to.

 

Sire: Cliff Von Burgthann and Dam: Yara Vom Obergrombacher Schloss both were Leistugszucht Pink Papered (see their info. & pedigree below).   I looked at many litters before deciding on this litter.  Cliff and Yara had pedigrees with dogs from well known German Kennels, and was loaded with dogs with conformation & working titles. In just 3 generations- 7 International Champions, 2 German Champions, 15 Gekort, 20 SchH3, 4 SchH2, 4 SchH1, 21 AD, 10 FH, DM FH, not to mention the Ztp's, other show titles,  etc...

 

I collected Mauser years before he passed in the hopes of one day breeding him. He doesn't have all the health clearances that Faith does, as back then it was Hips most people x-rayed. It was just Hips for a long time then Elbow x-raying (for the Rottweiler) came into the picture in the early 90's but didn't see it a lot till much later, if I remember correctly. slowly the other health clearances cam into the picture.

I wanted to pair him with a dog that did have the newer clearances.  Faith meets that requirement.

Jason and I were heavily involved in Police Dog training as well as pet dog training when we had Mauser. We did manage to hit a few German conformation shows with him during his early years, but only managed to have the time to do a BH.  Though he did do bite work and tracking as well as Obedience, jumps/dumbells, etc... We even did some muzzle work with him. He was a good demo dog for us, and helped sell Police Dogs.

Mauser meets the FCI Standard of height, has dark eyes and dark mouth pigment.

 

It's amazing what different judges will say or see. I take what I see, and what "same things" are seen by several judges, once the dog has finished growing, into consideration. Unfortunately we didn't really show Mauser at Maturity but there is a 3 year old critique below.

Mausers' diet consists of California Natural, Innova, Hundinflocken, Natural Balance, etc.. type dog foods. As well as, fruits, raw and cooked meats, yogurt supplements, etc... (The foods listed were back in the day when those foods were very good and owned by small companies)

 

We had taken a collection from Mauser when he was younger, so we will be able to have Mauser puppies in the future!!

Mauser is a loved pet first then a working/show dog.

Schutzhund and conformation is strictly a hobby.

Just arrived from California !!

 

Things I have learned about conformation showing.... the dog will do something stupid (like turn his foot) just when the Judge is looking.  And every Judge sees and likes something different.

In the working phases...during trial your dog may decide he has never been taught to down or out or maybe the long down is the perfect time to go POOP! :o)            

 But in the end, who cares, it doesn't matter, because we  love em' anyway!

Sadly, we had to let our baby go to rainbow bridge.  But we will be with him again someday.  Our hearts are broken and the house is not the same without him. He was our world.  We know he had the best life a Rottweiler (or any animal) could ever have. We will miss him everyday.
