It’s winter, and some of us like to hibernate only going out when we have to. But is your dog bored?

Like the Postal Service, when it comes to mentally and physically exercising my dog, “neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds“ I HAVE TO DO IT.

Faith gets a walk every day and obedience, at the very least.

I know for some of you, who have a 9-to-5 type job, when you get home, it’s dark and cold. And you don’t want to take your dog out. They really need that exercise! Someone still needs to walk it.

Some (most) dogs need more than just a walk. Dogs need mental and physical stimulation. If you do not properly provide them with it, they will still get it. But you might not like the way they satisfy that need.

So, is your dog bored?

One way you can give your dog mental stimulation, is to buy a dog puzzle like this one.

Level 2 puzzle

Just put some treats in the compartments and let your dog figure out how to get them out!

Treats hidden and ready for Faith.

I dehydrate my own treats, but also like treats such as these or these.

Faith working on getting those treats out of the Level 2 puzzle linked above.

This next puzzle is a level 3, get it here, it’s a little harder to figure out and is a larger puzzle.

Put treats in every spot or just random places.

I sped up the video for ya! Plus she kept moving it off the rug and I had to replace it, may have been better just put on the tile. The bottom does have, rubber nubby bumpers (say that 3 times fast!).

Come on, I mean put some Oreos in a puzzle and set me in front of it, I’ll be there till I figure it out! LOL.

A little physical exercise, but a lot of middle exercise goes into figuring out these puzzles. And if you think mental exercise doesn’t tire a dog out, you’d be wrong.

I’ll ask you again, is your dog bored? Is it misbehaving? Bugging you, barking at you, tearing things up, zoomies………

Interactive toys, walks, obedience, or other proper games you can play with your dog, will help your dog be calmer, satisfied, smart, obedient and tired (and a tired dog is a good dog).

Obedience gives your dog mental and physical exercise, a lot of my clients tell me their dog sleeps on the way home from their class.
